Diabetes is a chronic disease where the body is unable to produce enough insulin to regulate blood sugar.  This disease has caused the deaths of about 1.5 million people worldwide in 2019 alone, according to the World Health Organization

It is estimated that the number of diabetics will increase from 9.3% of the global population in 2019 to 11% by 2045. During this period, the global spending on diabetes treatment is expected to grow from US$760 billion to US$845 billion.

Many governments have created policies aimed at improving diabetes care with technology and information. Pharmaceutical companies are also conducting intensive research and development to create better and cheaper medication and monitoring and management systems.

How can governments collaborate with businesses to promote greater diabetes awareness and management?
