Agtech: Vietnam Agricultural Revolution 4.0

Agtech: Vietnam Agricultural Revolution 4.0

Although agriculture is an important economic sector in Vietnam, its share of the country’s GDP has been decreasing at an annual average of 0.3% in the last decade. In 2020, it contributed 14.9% to Vietnam’s GDP.

One solution is agriculture technology or Agtech, which is the use of technology in agriculture, horticulture, and aquaculture to improve yield, efficiency and profitability. Agtech can help to develop the production value chain of farming products while establishing links with businesses, and encouraging technology transfer.

With 12 certified areas for hi-tech agriculture, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and some commercial banks have offered a financial package of US$4.37 billion to help enterprises apply Agtech.

What are the opportunities for foreign investors in Agtech in Vietnam?
